New This Week:

The Farmstand (along with the entire Reading Terminal Market) will be closed on Friday, July 4th. Don't forget to pick up those grass-fed beef patties, all natural hot dogs (we have both all-beef and all-pork dogs this week), ripe slicing tomatoes, and just-picked blueberries for your festivities on Friday.

NEW THIS WEEK:

The students at Martin Luther King High School Farm will drop off the season's first PATTY PAN SQUASH on Wednesday. (Tip: this summer staple is great sliced in half and thrown on the grill!)

Just in time for that 4th of July potato salad, Lancaster Farm Fresh Coop has harvested their first crop of ORGANIC YUKON GOLD and RED GOLD POTATOES and will deliver several bushels to us on Tuesday.

The Farmstand freezer is now stocked with ALL-BEEF HOTDOGS from Natural Acres Farm. These tasty pups are certified organic and made from grass-fed beef.

Daryl, of Rineer Family Farms, promises us a steady supply of his crisp (and affordable!) GREEN BEANS and YELLOW WAX BEANS for the remainder of the summer. This week, he is also bringing us CONTESSA & CANDY SWEET ONIONS.

Recipes - Sweet and Sour Onion Confit

When you're out there grilling this weekend, or Summer, for that matter, 'Sweet and Sour Onions' are a great side dish for almost anything. Farmstand Co-Manager, Sarah Cain, particularly likes to use the sweet-style onions - Vidalia, Walla Walla or our own Pennsylvania Candy Onions. See Sarah's recipe for Sweet and Sour Onion Confit at the bottom of this email.

We'd love to get submissions from you, our very talented customers, for our recipe section. We know you're making wonderful dishes with the local farm products you buy at the 'Stand (because we hear you talking about them), and we'd love to get some of your recipes for this email. Please send them to us!
